AdTech: Friday Roundup 12-04

Dec 4, 2015 | Industry Updates

This week in AdTech: In the words of Jon Snow “winter is coming, so strategize your digital marketing campaigns” (I may be paraphrasing a bit).

This time of year is when companies must get creative, scope out the competition and stay in tune with the trends that are surrounding the digital ecosystem- having said that, here are some noteworthy findings from this week. Bing has launched two new image search features that allow shoppers to compare and recommend products from different vendors using the “Places to Buy” function of the platform. Further, AdWords has rolled out a number of shopping ad enhancements that include: a new shopping insights tool, an assortment report and a Google merchant center add-on for Sheets- just to name a few. Earlier this week we observed year three of #givingtuesday, the spark of the charitable giving season that tech giants have rallied behind that has increased the number of online donations by 470% since it’s inception.

In the world of Social: We have begun to see some changes in Facebook Ads, these changes make it imperative for advertisers to define what they are optimizing for, how they are bidding on clicks, and what ad sets are right considering what they’re selling and to whom. Not only that, Facebook has made some adjustments to the conversion pixel making it necessary in most instances to replace the old with the new pixel, here is what marketers should know. In other news, Snapchat is now allowing publishers to link their Discover channel’s content directly to Facebook and Twitter. And you may have seen the buzz on Twitter recently surrounding the ‘branded hashtag emoji’, it has become the hottest marketing technique that is sweeping the platform. All this and more in this week’s AdTech Roundup.
