Get to Know Sandy Lohr!

Jul 31, 2015 | Product News

Yesterday, I sat down with our new CEO, Sandy Lohr, to ask some fun questions we thought our tribe of employees, partners and friends would enjoy…

Questions:

Austin Luther: Who is your role model, and why?

Sandy Lohr: Marty Bartner, former publisher of The Star Ledger. Marty taught me that there is nothing more important than people – both those you work with and those you serve. I strive to live by his “3 H’s”: humility, honesty, and hard work. He also taught me that “winning” means solving customers’ problems and meeting their needs.

AL: What inspired you to join MatchCraft?

SL: MatchCraft is known for integrity and performance, both of which are important in my personal value system. MatchCraft has a great team that I’ve had the privilege to get to know over the last several years. I wanted to be part of this exciting venture and build for the future. It’s also an opportunity to challenge myself. And there’s this thing called winter….

AL: What’s your superpower?

SL: I am proud to unveil my uncanny ability to size up leftovers and select the precise plastic storage container the first time. Even though this has been challenged by various so-called family members, my success rate is remarkably high. I can also identify cab franc in most blends before reading the label.

AL: If we’re sitting here a year from now celebrating what a great year it’s been for you in this role, what did we achieve together?

SL: Earning the right to continue to grow relationships and renew business with existing customers, and sharing and expanding our secret sauce with new customers.

AL: Last book you read?

SL:’Turn the Ship Around!’

David Marquet, an experienced Navy officer, was used to giving orders. As newly appointed captain of the USS Santa Fe, a nuclear-powered submarine, he empowered his team to make decisions without asking for permission.
