AdTech: Friday Roundup 09-04

Sep 4, 2015 | Industry Updates

This week in the ADTECH Roundup we cover Google’s re-branding and how they’re changing more than just the logo; it is part of a bigger picture that includes-but is not limited to- a new UI for its mobile search results.

Further, they have announced a new home services ad program offered to select areas and verticals in the Northern California area. Following in Google’s enormous shadow, Yahoo has begun to emulate through expansion efforts into new revenue streams by building out its local search marketing reseller program. In search news, eMarketer released a report that highlights Canada exceeding the United States in mobile search ad spend. Mobile continues to dominate and out perform projections as another report shows that it will account for more than 50% of digital ad spend in 2015.

In the world of social: Twitter has now expanded its self service ad dashboard to over 200 countries and territories, they are also proud to announce that nearly 100,000 people are using the platform. Coming from the agency world, I understand the value of using social channels and KPIs within those mediums to measure ROI; however it can be a cumbersome process to explain the notion of ‘brand equity’ and ‘social influence’ to sell a client. Now that Simply Measured has announced it’s acquisition of Inside Social, we will all have access to valuable, performance measured (and explained) KPIs and what kind of ROI they are generating. Further, we provided some helpful resources and study materials for optimizing the opportunity cost associated with studying for the some of the AdWords exams, how to properly resolve a customer dispute over social media and five tips on getting your brand started with Snapchat.
